Learning Objectives Provide students with basic knowledge of clinical psychology applied to nursing practice. Develop communication and relational skills for patient care. Understand the main psychological disorders and their impact on treatment. Promote the ability to collaborate within the multidisciplinary healthcare team. Course Outline (Modules) Module 1 – Foundations of Clinical Psychology Definition and areas of clinical psychology. Roles of psychologist and nurse in the clinical setting. Mind-body relationship and the biopsychosocial model. Module 2 – Nurse-Patient Relationship Effective communication: active listening, empathy, assertiveness. Managing emotions of the patient and the nurse. Helping relationship and basic psychological support. Module 3 – Stress, Pain, and Illness Stress concept and coping strategies. Psychological reactions to acute and chronic illness. Psychological aspects of pain management. Module 4 – Main Psychological Disorders Anxiety and depression. Psychosomatic disorders. Cognitive disorders and dementia. Nursing approach to patients with mental illness. Module 5 – Specific Clinical Settings Psychology in critical care (ICU, emergency). Oncology, terminal patients, and palliative care. Support for pediatric patients and families. Psychological aspects in geriatrics. Module 6 – Basic Tools and Techniques Clinical interview and behavioral observation. Stress and burnout management for nurses. Teamwork and interdisciplinary interaction.
