Course program
• Principles of infectious disease diagnosis: Approaches to patients with suspected infectious disease, consideration and integrated assessment of signs, symptoms, and laboratory abnormalities; • Nosocomial infections (intense, especially in an epidemiological sense): Infections of the urinary tract, respiratory tract, skin and soft tissue (post-surgical), blood (sepsis, septic shock); • Gastrointestinal tract infections: Infections caused by Campylobacter jejuni, Shigella sp., minor salmonellosis (not S. typhi), Vibrio cholerae, Escherichia coli, Entamoeba histolytica; Respiratory tract infections: Epidemiology of respiratory tract infections (community-acquired and nosocomial infections), etiology of upper and lower respiratory tract infections, viral and bacterial pneumonia, bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis; • Genitourinary tract infections: Upper and lower urinary tract infections; • Syndromic and epidemiological approach to the main sexually transmitted infections with predominantly local-regional clinical characteristics: syphilis, gonorrhea, non-gonococcal urethritis, herpes infections, condylomatosis; • Central nervous system infections: Meningitis, encephalitis, brain abscesses; • Bone and joint infections: Osteomyelitis, septic arthritis; • Infectious diseases with a predominantly systemic character: epidemiology, etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, and clinical features of brucellosis, leptospirosis, infectious mononucleosis, typhoid fever, AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, endocarditis, sepsis, and septic shock; • Principles of anti-infective therapy: antimicrobial therapy as an etiological therapy, the concept of selectivity of action, empirical and targeted therapy of infectious diseases; • Nursing techniques: managing the patient in isolation.
