At the end of the Emergency Medicine and First Aid course, the student should be able to:
Understand the concepts of urgency and emergency
Be familiar with the territorial and hospital emergency-care networks
Understand the principles of triage according to the Lazio Region model
Identify the critically ill patient, interpret alterations in vital signs, monitor the critical patient, and maintain vital functions
Recognize the importance of communication and information in the field of emergency medicine
Understand the management and care procedures for patients presenting to the emergency department with internal medicine conditions
Interpret laboratory reports in the context of emergency medicine
Recognize the main abnormalities on an electrocardiogram
Interpret the main clinical “scores” used in emergency medicine
