THREE-DIMENSIONAL MODELING

Course objectives

The student must demonstrate knowledge of the classifications of the main neoplastic and non-neoplastic alterations affecting the cervix, uterus and ovary; describe the main placental and umbilical cord anomalies; describe the clinical and histological characteristics of the main pathologies of the cardio-circulatory, pulmonary, gastrointestinal and respiratory systems.

Role of pathologist; sample management (from processing to staining in cytology and histology) Diseases of the female genital system: anatomy and histology of the organ; dimension of the problem in each area and histological aspects of the disease processes Pathology of the uterine cervix (from pap smear to histology; CIN-LSIL-HSIL, carcinoma) Pathology of the uterine body (endometriosis, adenomyosis, glandular hyperplasia, endometrial carcinoma, leiomyoma, leiomyosarcoma) Benign ovarian pathology (folliculogenesis, benign cysts, ovarian tumors: of the epithelium, of the sexual cords and stroma, of the germinative epithelium, metastatic neoplasms) Placental pathology (insertion anomalies, chorioamniositis, placental infarction, cord insertion anomalies, trophoblast diseases: mola, choriocarcinoma) Benign and malignant breast disease Pathology of the gastrointestinal tract (esophagus: GERD, esophagitis and neoplasms; stomach: gastritis, carcinomas; colon: polyps and carcinomas) Cardiovascular pathology(hypertrophy, atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction) Respiratory diseases (emphysema, acute pulmonary edema, neoplasms)
Prerequisites
In order to understand the teaching content and to achieve the learning objectives, at the beginning of the didactic activities foreseen by the didactic module the student must possess the knowledge of anatomy of the anatomy of the main organs of the body.

Frequency
Following the Regulations of the CdS, the student is required to attend educational activities, formal, non-formal, vocational. The frequency is checked by the teachers through signature / updated lists provided by the Academic Office, as established by CCL. The certificate of mandatory attendance to the teaching course is required to the student to be admitted at the final test.
