- ELEMENTS OF DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS: classification and types of data: nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio variables. - MEASURES OF CENTRAL TENDENCY AND DISPERSION: mean (arithmetic, geometric), median, mode. Measures of variability (range, variance, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, quartiles, percentiles, interquartile range). REPRESENTATION OF DATA using appropriate charts: bar charts, histograms, box plots. FREQUENCY DISTRIBUTIONS. Number of classes. Cumulative frequency. Frequency classes. Bar charts, histograms, frequency polygons, cumulative frequency ogive. Normal distribution. Standardized scores. STATISTICAL TESTS. Sample and population; sampling error; use of probability in statistical tests; null and experimental hypothesis; p-value and statistical significance; parametric and non-parametric tests; Type I and Type II errors; normal distribution and standard normal distribution; statistical power: a priori power calculation; confidence intervals; Analysis of variance (ANOVA);
