Course program
CULTURE MEDIA: composition of the main liquid and solid culture media used for the isolation of bacteria. MICROSCOPES: microscopic observation of colonies of microorganisms. Preparation and observation of microbial cell preparations. STAINING TECHNIQUES: types of staining techniques in microbiology. MICROBIOLOGICAL CULTURES: Preparation of cultures for aerobic and anaerobic bacteria . Cultivation techniques and isolation. Colony count. Biochemical tests. MICROBIOLOGICAL DIAGNOSIS: urine , feces, rhino- pharyngeal exudates, sputum, material collected from eyes, ear swab, materials taken in the genital area, cerebrospinal fluid , blood culture. DIAGNOSIS OF MYCOBACTERIOSIS SENSITIVITY ASSAYS FOR ANTIBACTERIAL AND ANTIFUNGALS DRUGS BIOTECHNOLOGY: molecular amplification techniques. Search of toxins and bacterial antigens for the early diagnosis of C. difficile and meningitis infections.
