The third part focuses on the basic concepts of hormonal dosages and on the different laboratory methods, aimed at developing the student's critical ability and the interpretation of laboratory data. General introductory part on the structure and organization of the endocrine system concerning the endocrine glands (anatomy and distribution), hormones (synthesis, secretion and mechanism of action), receptors (nuclear and membrane), regulatory systems, integration of the endocrine system with the nervous system and with the immune system, concept of biological rhythm. Special section on the pathology of the hypothalamus and pituitary gland (acromegaly, gigantism, pituitary dwarfism); Thyroid (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroiditis); Parathyroid glands; Testicle and Ovary; Adrenal glands (hypoadrenocorticism, hypercorticadrenalism); Endocrine pancreas (Type 1 and 2 diabetes mellitus).
