**TRAINING OBJECTIVES:** - Conduct system-based and model-based assessments in adults and a comprehensive general physical examination. - Prioritize nursing diagnoses and integrated management problems using the NNN taxonomy (NANDA-I, NOC, and NIC) and M. Gordon’s theoretical model. - Plan primary interventions related to clinical care conditions encountered during the course of study related to identified nursing diagnoses and integrated management problems. - Understand the correct application of diagnostic-therapeutic prescriptions. - Define the evaluation criteria for the outcomes of nursing care provided to the patient. - Correlate instrumental and laboratory test results with the clinical conditions covered during the training program. - Know and apply the main legal and ethical references of the nursing profession. - Develop and enhance relational competence within nursing care. --- **EXPECTED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS** The student should demonstrate the following knowledge and skills: - Assess and manage pain; - Manage and treat pressure ulcers; - Handle simple and complex surgical wounds; manage drains (especially lung drainage); - Manage lower limb ulcers, apply compressive and protective dressings; - Prepare the patient for surgery; - Perform hair removal; - Understand different postures and positioning techniques according to the clinical condition; - Record a 12-lead ECG in adults and recognize major ECG abnormalities; - Apply anti-thrombotic elastic stockings; - Use techniques to prevent pulmonary stasis (postural drainage, clapping, and vibrations); - Assist the patient in the postoperative phase; - Apply and monitor cardiac function monitoring devices; - Administer oxygen therapy with all types of devices; - Manage and administer therapy via oral, topical, intramuscular, intradermal, subcutaneous, rectal, intravenous, inhaled, ophthalmic, auricular, and nasal routes; - Manage insulin therapy; - Insert a peripheral vein cannula (PVC) and manage PVCs; - Manage central venous catheters (CVC) for short, medium, and long-term use; - Operate mechanical infusion pumps; - Perform and understand indications for blood culture collection; - Interpret and evaluate major diagnostic tests; - Prepare, manage, and monitor the patient undergoing diagnostic investigations (radiological, ultrasound, endoscopic, scintigraphic, biopsy, etc.); - Prepare, manage, and monitor the patient undergoing endoscopic procedures; - Prepare and monitor patients during blood product administration; - Handle chemotherapeutic drugs; - Prepare, manage, and monitor the patient during exploratory punctures: thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, paracentesis, aspirate, and bone marrow biopsy; - Manage patients at risk of or with diabetic foot complications; - Insert and manage a nasogastric tube (NGT); - Manage PEG and other digestive stomas; - Manage and administer total parenteral and enteral nutrition; manage nutritional pumps; - Understand and apply dietary recommendations in major clinical conditions; - Perform techniques for hydro-electrolytic monitoring; - Perform and manage transurethral urinary catheterization in men and women; - Manage urinary and intestinal stomas.
Prerequisites
To access the first internship of the 2nd year, the Internship I exam must be passed.
