Course program
The objectives of the module of Nursing Methodology are the following, explained through the Dublin descriptors:
1. Know and understand nursing principles, nursing process applied to person, family and community, define the meaning and principles of critical thinking
2. Be able to describe and apply the principles of methodology to nursing care
3. Describe the principles and tools of the nursing plan and their application to care planning according to Gordon's functional health models
4. Enounce and describe phases of nursing process with particular referring to the needs verification, to the nursing diagnosis and to the actuation of easiest interventions
5. Know EBN meaning and principles and be able to make bibliographic research to identify the scientific evidence to be applied in care practice

Methodological conceptual aspects of nursing process
Nursing process: uses, characteristics and organization; nurse and nursing process; principle to describe clinical phenomenon of nursing and plan assistance
Critical thinking and nursing process
Nursing assessment: definition and purpose of the investigation; critical thinking and assessment; Data collection (subjective and objective data, primary and secondary sources); methods of data collection (observation, physical examination, interview, check of the documentation); organization and data validation; data registration; ethical legal considerations.
Nursing models: conceptual framework of functional models of Gordon
Diagnostic reasoning: the nursing diagnosis; definition and historical and epistemological framework of nursing diagnoses; Diagnostic language: NANDA taxonomy; choice of the problem’s name; structure of the diagnostic statements; collaborative problems.
Planning assistance: initial and continues planning of discharge; care plans; planning objectives and NOC classification; interventions planning and NIC classification.
The implementation of the nursing care plan: managed care and case management; definition and type of nursing interventions: do, delegate, supervise; principles and rules of the interventions registration: when, what, how to record; documentation systems and the nursing documentation.
Evaluation of nursing care: definition, characteristics, standards and criteria; evaluation / modification of the care plan
