Course program
1.Internal Medicine and the Clinical Method
Observation and identification of key symptoms and signs. Medical history taking: family and personal history; past and current illnesses; pharmacological and toxicological history.
2.Clinical Semiology and Methodology
General and system-based physical examination, identification of normal findings and detection of pathological signs.
3. Insulin Resistance
Pathophysiology and diagnosis, with particular focus on laboratory parameters useful for identifying the condition.
4.Diabetes Mellitus
Classification, epidemiology, pathophysiology, and diagnosis with particular reference to relevant laboratory parameters. Basic therapeutic principles.
5.Dyslipidemia
Classification, epidemiology, pathophysiology, laboratory diagnosis, and therapeutic principles.
Student evaluation will be carried out through a written examination consisting of multiple-choice questions (4–5 answer options). The test may include both theoretical questions on the topics covered in the course and application-based questions involving simple clinical cases, aimed at assessing clinical reasoning skills.
This examination may also be taken as an in itinere assessment at the end of the specific module.
