Course program
At the end of the course, students will be able to describe the molecular basis of hereditary information. They will acquire knowledge of nucleic acids, chromatin, and chromosomes, as well as the mechanisms of DNA replication and repair. The course will also cover the cell cycle, mitosis, and meiosis, with particular attention to the transmission and evolution of genetic information. Students will gain an understanding of the flow of information from genes to proteins, the role of receptors, ion channels, and ion pumps, and the principles underlying the resting membrane potential and the generation of action potentials. Finally, they will become familiar with the structure and function of the cytoskeleton, intercellular junctions, and the organization of the nucleus and chromatin.
