A hands-on exercise using a project provided by the teacher will be carried out. Students, gathered in a work teams, will apply the acquired knowledge defining quantity, resources and required time by the construction and the construction site layout. The exercise will be developed using BIM systems in order to acquire the knowledge about the modern support tools nowadays available in order to allow an adequate visualization and knowledge of the project and take advantage of the up to date 4D techniques and paperless quantity take-off methodologies. As part of the course, students will acquire the ability to deal with the operational definition of the activities required by construction within the framework of public works contracts, identifying the required activities, technical and operational conflicts and troubleshooting strategies.
