Course program
1. REMINDERS of: vectorial theory, matrix operations, functions. 2. KINEMATICS of rigid bodies: rigid body motion, kinematic characterization of structural supports. 3. STATICS of rigid bodies: force systems, static characterization of structural supports, static problem, static classification of rigid bodies, internal forces, truss structures. 4. SECTION PROPERTIES: area, first moment of area, centroid, second moment of area/moment of inertia, parallel axis theorem, principal moments and axes of inertia. 5. DEFORMABLE BODIES: Fundamental concept of stress and deformation, linear elastic constitutive relationship.
Prerequisites
Students are required to know the following topics: - Vectors, matrices, matrix operations - Derivatives and integrals - Systems of linear equations - Functions
Frequency
No mandatory attendance
Exam mode
The exam consists of a written test consisting of some exercises on the main topics covered in the course. Then, corresponding results are discussed with a short oral exam.
Lesson mode
The course is based on traditional frontal lessons. The use of the blackboard, multimedia tools and all the teaching tools deemed suitable are foreseen.
