THREE-DIMENSIONAL MODELING
Course objectives
Specific objectives: The module deals primarily with the critical analysis and design of visual narratives from data and information, applying narrative models from the sociological tradition, such as the circular structure of the hero's journey (Campbell, 1984) and Vogler, 1999), characterization of characters through the archetypes and fundamental psychological types of narration (Durand,1972; Jung, 1947; Pearson, 1990), as well as the firm heads of narrative, functions and structures (Barthes, 1966; Todorov,1969). Through this module, students will acquire knowledge and skills to carry out a critical analysis of visual narratives, including cross-media and transmedia narratives, and will be able to apply the rules underlying the content design of visual narratives when they have to visualize data or narrate them within an interpretative narrative structure. For this reason, the two modules of which the course is composed run in parallel to provide visual design skills in the field of Information Design, offering knowledge and skills for the research, conception and validation of complex infographic communication artefacts. These skills will be tested within the framework of experimental and project activities through the development of thematic and semester-long project work.
