THREE-DIMENSIONAL MODELING

Course objectives

PHOTOGRAPHY (L-ART/06) – 6 CFU Specific objectives: The course is divided into lectures dedicated to outlining the main historical, theoretical, aesthetic, technical and design problems connected to photography, and laboratory meetings aimed at defining a photographic idea and developing it in its design lines, verifying its feasibility, possible areas of application, the results. Through the comparison between different methodological perspectives, a series of central problems in modern historiography and photographic theory will be treated (relating for example to the evolution over time of visual genres, to the effects of the digital revolution, to the related transformations in social practices and production methods. ). With the help of examples and case studies (reportages and thematic photographic books, serial system research, experimental projects, communication campaigns, installations), students will be asked to conceive, design, implement (with one or more coherently applied techniques) and edit a photographic sequence. The sequence must be introduced by a short explanatory text (statement) and accompanied by any equipment (such as captions, maps, layout models, layout schemes or other - for example archives, databases, etc.). Particular emphasis will be given to recurring methods in contemporary photography (for example the use of iconographic palimpsests, the anthropological method and the relational approach, the use of maps, social platforms, georeferenced systems or other forms of research and sharing of images on the web), as well as themes and problems typical of documentary and experimental photography (research on social identity, cultural memory, urban and environmental context, landscape changes; research on language, media, visuality ; forms of appropriation and remake applied in different visual fields, etc.). The exam will focus on knowledge of the bibliographic material (to be agreed with the teacher) and on the presentation of personal photographic research. Of this, the design methods must be justified (also according to the theoretical topics detailed in the bibliography), the editing and the equipment attached to the images.
