Course objectives

The learning objectives of the French language course are to lead the student to: 1. Acquire the necessary skills to communicate easily about various aspects of every day life and also in specific study and work situations in French. 2. Investigate aspects of French civilization and culture. 3. Familiarize themselves with the socio-economic lexicon through authentic texts. 4. Develop learning strategies in order to improve language skills, with a view to lifelong learning. The objectives can be defined in terms of the following levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR): • comprehension of written messages B2 • comprehension of oral messages B2 • production of written texts B1 • production of oral messages B1 (The descriptive content of the skills defined for the various levels is available at: in French (http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/LanguageSelfAssessmentGrid/fr) in Italian (http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/LanguageSelfAssessmentGrid/it) . EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES Students who have passed the examination will possess: • a mastery of the French language in daily life and study and professional communicative situations. • a knowledge of the most important cultural aspects of French-speaking countries; • learning strategies which allow them to continue the learning of French in an independent way.

Course program
I. COURSE– 1st semester Comprehension and reasoned reformulation of specialized French texts: economics and business, geopolitics, and international cooperation. Module 1: French for economics and international cooperation. Module 2: Building an argumentation and communication strategies in a professional environment. Bibliography: Sophie Coelho, Géopolitique du numérique : l’impérialisme à pas de géants, Paris, Editions de l’Atelier, 2023 (read one chapter of your choice). Reference texts and specialized documents for textual analysis will be recommended and made available during the course. II. LANGUAGE TRAINING – 1st and 2nd semesters – Dottor T. Oral exam: analysis and structured presentation of a specialized press article and a press dossier prepared by the student. The "dossier de presse" will consist of three articles on a topic relevant to the course taken from the French-language specialized press. Students must bring the printed "dossier de presse" to the oral exam and will be asked to present it, highlighting the similarities and differences between the three articles on the same subject, following a logical plan. Frequency
Attendance recommended for at least 2/3 of the course.
Exam mode
Written test: comprehension of a specialised text and evaluation of the knowledge of the grammatical structures. Oral test: oral presentation of a specialised French article taken from the French- speaking press.
