POLYMER PRACTICE
Course objectives
General expected learning outcomes The aim of the course is to extend the knowledge acquired with the course "Polymers in Pharmaceuticals" through a more experimental approach to polymer science, with practice on the characterization of polymer materials and their formulations. Specific expected learning outcomes 1. Knowledge and understanding The student will know the main characterization techniques of polymers and their formulations, through lessons and laboratory practice. He will understand how polymer structures affect the properties in solution and in the solid state, as well as the polymer formulations. 2. Applying knowledge and understanding At the end of the course, the student will know the basic techniques for the polymer characterization and he will understand how to analyze different polymers based on the properties of interest for their pharmaceutical application 3. Making judgements The student will be able to understand and critically evaluate the characteristics of important polymers and he will be able to choose the most suitable candidates for the various applications required. 4. Communication skills With the “Polymer Practice” course, the student will learn the specific terminology of the polymer characterization, and he will be able to communicate on this subject in a suitable manner also at working level. 5. Learning skills The student will be stimulated to understand how different experimental techniques can give information on the nature and properties of polymers and will be stimulated to apply his knowledge in an interdisciplinary way.
