THREE-DIMENSIONAL MODELING

Course objectives

At the end of the course the student must know the anatomical-pathological pictures at macroscopic, microscopic and ultrastructural level in relation to the most relevant diseases of the different apparatuses, as well as the pathology, in correlation with the epidemiology, genetics and molecular biology, as a key to the understanding of the etiopathogenetic processes, and, by virtue of the anatomo-clinical correlation, as a method for understanding the natural history of the morbid processes; with particular reference to diseases of the cardio-circulatory system, respiratory apparatus, urogenital apparatus, breast, head and neck and soft tissues. At the end of the course the student must be able to perform the macroscopic examination of the various organs and systems; - be aware of the value of the epicrisis as a moment of diagnostic synthesis of the anatomo-clinical findings of the pathological event - be aware of the contribution of pathology (sector, histopathology, cytopathology, ultrastructural analysis, molecular biology) in the decision-making process of the physician , in the diagnosis, in the prevention, in the gradation and staging of the morbid processes, in the control of the effects of the therapy with particular reference to diseases of the cardio-circulatory system, respiratory apparatus, urogenital apparatus, breast, head and neck and soft tissues.

Course program
Anatomo-pathological diagnostic patterns of the main lesions, including cellular, tissue and organ lesions and their evolution as related to the diseases of cardiovascular system, respiratory system, uro-genital system, breast, head and neck and soft tissue. This program will be carried out during the IV year I semester of the CdS with schedule of the lessons published on the website of the CdS in the section dedicated to the timetable of the lessons.
Prerequisites
In order to understand the teaching content and to achieve the learning objectives, at the beginning of the didactic activities foreseen by the didactic module the student must possess the knowledge of anatomy, histology and general pathology. Cultural prerequisites: Pursuant to the teaching regulations of the CdS, please note that to take the Pathological Anatomy exam you must have passed the General Pathology and Physiopathology exam.
Books
For the examination of the exam, we suggest a theoretical deepening already from the beginning of the course attendance. For the purpose of consultation and in-depth study, the recommended books are: P. Gallo, G. d'Amati Pathological Anatomy: the UTET system L. Ruco, A. Scarpa Pathological anatomy: the UTET bases Ed. E. Rubin Pathological Anatomy: The Essential Piccin Ed. Robbins and Cotran The pathological bases of Masson diseases Ed. The topics covered during the course can be downloaded from the e-learning platform at the site: https://elearning.uniroma1.it/course/view.php?id=174
Teaching mode
The teacher delivers lectures with traditional methods with audiovisual aids and scheduling of lessons as reported on GOMP Aule/Orari system, published on the website of the CdS.
Frequency
Following the Regulations of the CdS, the student is required to attend educational activities, formal, non-formal, vocational. The frequency is checked by the teachers through signature / updated lists provided by the Academic Office, as established by CCL. The certificate of mandatory attendance to the teaching course is required to the student to be admitted at the final test.
Exam mode
This course includes a multiple choice written quiz exam, to pass the course of Pathological Anatomy II the student must achieve a grade of not less than 18/30 which will make an average for the final grade. The student must demonstrate that he has acquired a sufficient knowledge of the contribution of pathological anatomy (autopsy, histopathology, cytopathology, ultrastructural analysis, molecular biology) in the decision-making process of the doctor, in the diagnosis, prevention, grading and staging of morbid processes, in controlling the effects of therapy. and have a basic knowledge of the techniques most used in Anatomy Pathology and of morphological modifications at the macroscopic, microscopic level of simple lesions in relation to the most relevant diseases of the various systems. To pass the final exam it is necessary to achieve a mark of not less than 18/30 in each module and the final mark will be defined as the average of the marks of the exams of modules II and III of Pathological Anatomy and the practical test. To achieve a score of 30/30 cum laude, the student must instead demonstrate that he has acquired an excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course, being able to connect them in a logical and coherent way. Written exemption: multiple choice quiz; Oral examination Practice test on organ The dates of the exams (eight sessions) are published on the CdS website in the relative section.
