Course objectives
The course on Child Neuropsychiatry has the following aims: - knowledge of normal and delayed/deranged developmental trajectory and its biological bases; - knowledge of the impact of social and family environmental variables on child development - knowledge of the role of aetiological and pathogenetic factors on the development of behavioural and neurological phenotypes of the most prevalent developmental disorders and nutrition and feeding disorders (DSM 5 diagnostic categories) - knowledge of the age-dependency of neuropsychiatric manifestations of developmental disorders - knowledge of evidence-based assessment, diagnosis and therapy (pharmacological, behavioural, rehabilitation); - knowledge of the complexity of physician-patient/carer interaction and how this affects delivery of care of patients with developmental disorders and their integration in family and school/peers environment
