- The principal diagnostic tests in Respiratory Medicine (i.e. pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gas analysis, cardiopulmonary exercise test, chest imaging)
- The invasive and non-invasive procedures for the diagnosis and management of the main respiratory diseases
- The effects of smoking on the lungs and the available multidisciplinary therapeutic interventions
- Acute and chronic respiratory failure
- Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome

Prerequisites
Key prerequisite for an adequate comprehension of the contents addressed over the course is a proper knowledge of the topics taught during the following courses: Biology and Genetics, Histology and Embriology, Biochemistry, Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Clinical Scientific Methods, Pathology and Physiopathology.
