Basic statistical methodologies: universe and sample; unitary and frequency distributions; graphics; means ( arithmetic mean and some of its properties, median and other quantiles); variability, most frequently used variability indices, relative variability indices; statistical ratios. Statistical sources concerning the labor market, in its structural and dynamic characteristics (ISTAT. INPS, INAIL, etc.). The ISTAT survey on the labor force: general information on the structure of the survey and on the sampling design; main indicators at different territorial scales. Conceptual aspects of the BES and the SdGs: work as one of the dimensions of well-being and sustainability; models for the analysis of the labor market and employment dynamics.

Knowledge of the basic tools of univariate descriptive statistics (graphics, means, variability).

Attendance at classes is strongly recommended.

The exam is unique for the entire course (6 CFU in SECS-S/04 and 3 CFU in SECS-S/01) and is divided into two parts that, as a rule, take place in sequence on the same date: - the first, carried out with the aid of the Excel spreadsheet, involves the completion of 3 exercises (of which 2 refer to the topics of the Demography module and 1 to those of the Methods and tools for analyzing the labor market and employment dynamics module) - the second involves the synthetic answer to 3 open questions (here too in the 2:1 ratio between the two modules) and a brief summary of two in-depth readings (one in Demography and one in Statistics(, chosen by the student from those proposed for the two modules.
