Course program
The course aims at providing students with detailed knowledge of Work Organization and Human Resources Management. Subjects of study include: 1) Theories and practices in HRM (6 hours) - Business Organization - Organizational design - Resource Based View - Strategic Human Resource Management - Diversity Management 2) Organizational structures and functions (8 hours) - Main organizational structures - HR competencies and configurations - Ulrich HR competency model - Cases and applications 3) HR processes (24 hours) - Human Resource Planning - Recruitment, Selecting, Hiring - Work organization - Training, Induction, Evaluation 4)Assessing results of HRM (10 hours) - HR Costs - Main KPY of HR processes - Turnover and absenteeism

Please, note that Chapters 3, 11, 13, and 14 are not included, while for chapters that follow only the specified pages need to be included in preparing the exam: Chapter 5 (pages from 160 to 172); Chapter 7 (pages from 253 to 263); Chapter 12 (pages from 456 to 463). - Gabrielli, G. e Profili, S. 2016. Teaching mode
Lectures will be integrated with the discussion and presentation of business case studies, exercises and/or project works. Through case discussions, in-class exercises, work groups and project works, this course allows students to acquire advanced skills in the application of managerial tools for organizational analysis and performance measurement of both HR processes and practices. In addition, the reference to the most recent results of the academic literature and the participation of HRM professionals as guest lecturers will make this knowledge constantly updated. Throughout the term, students will be tasked with a number of assignments on HRM issues, such as simulations, discussion groups, and written reports/paper in order to improve their observation, interpretation, reflection and judgement skills
Frequency
Attendance to the course is highly recommended but not mandatory.
Exam mode
The exam (held at the end of the course) aims at assessing both theoretical knowledge and analytical skills. It consists of an oral examination. For attending students, the final evaluation will include the total of scores they achieved during the course through the participation to project works and work groups.
