Course program
THEORY: Theory and practice of measurements in a wind tunnel by dynamometric balance.
PRACTICE:
1. Design a wing with care to the wing plant and tip.
2. Realisation of the wing model designed at point 1.
3. Aerodynamic Force measurements on the wing in a wind tunnel by dynamometric balance.
4. Analysis of the data obtained by experimental measurements.
5. Optimization of the wing performances.
6. Presentation of the results
7. Drafting of the report
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of aerodynamics
Books
G.P. Romano – Notes of the Aerodynamics experimental Laboratory, 2008
Teaching mode
The laboratory deals with one/two theoretical classes and experimental measurements in the fluid dynamics laboratory. The students will employ the wind tunnel and several tools measuring aerodynamic body forces.
Frequency
Attendance is recommended to actively take part in the experimental campaigns.
Exam mode
The project consists of a scientific report and an oral presentation dealing with the experimental measurements performed during the laboratory and the comparison with the data available in the literature.
