Course program
Part I.
The fundamental elements of linear beam mechanics, part of the Structural Mechanics course syllabus, and the fundamental elements of heat conduction, part of the Physics course syllabus, are reviewed. The coupling between these two physical phenomena forms the basis for the study of thermoelastic beams, whose behavior will be analyzed in this phase under particularly simple conditions.
Part II.
The fundamental elements of electrostatics, part of the Physics II and Electrical Engineering I course syllabi, are reviewed. The coupling between linear mechanics and electrostatics, which underlies the piezoelectric beam, forms the basis for the study of piezoelectric beams, whose behavior will be analyzed in this phase under particularly simple conditions.
Part III.
Design of an experiment involving the thermoelastic/piezoelectric beam through the use of a finite element code.
Prerequisites
