Professional opportunities
Technological and Digital Innovation Engineer for the Built Environment
Functions
The Degree Programme aims to train an intermediate professional figure in the field of engineering capable of carrying out activities in the construction sector, with particular attention to the sustainability of interventions in terms of environmental, hydrogeological and seismic compatibility, as well as energy efficiency. Graduates are aware that the use of technologies and materials with a low environmental impact, together with the application of innovative technologies and ICT, is essential to achieve these objectives.
Graduates of this Degree Programme will be able to understand and apply innovative technologies and ICT to analyse the morphological, typological, structural and technological features of interventions involving the transformation, protection and safeguarding of the territory. They will be able to identify the main factors of environmental, hydrogeological and seismic vulnerability, as well as understand the processes of construction, transformation and conservation of buildings, in their material and constructive components, in relation to environmental, social, economic, regulatory and production contexts.
Competences
The specific competences of graduates in Technological and Digital Innovation Engineering for the Built Environment concern all operations related to:
• surveying the morphological and physical characteristics of the environment, urbanised areas and building structures through the application of Building Information Modelling and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
• defining, planning and assessing the sustainability of interventions on the territory for settlement and development purposes, also through techniques such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
• planning and managing construction processes in their various components, while ensuring the protection of the main environmental components
• managing, evaluating and administratively directing construction processes, including safety procedures and risk mitigation
• overseeing industrial production processes of building components and construction systems, as well as maintenance activities, integration of building services and related safety aspects.
Career opportunities
Graduates may apply the competences acquired in public and private bodies and companies, engineering firms, industries operating in the construction and environmental sectors, and construction companies. They may also work as self-employed professionals or consultants.
The Degree Programme also prepares students to continue their studies in various Master’s Degree Programmes, particularly those belonging to the LM-24 class.
