The professional skills of the Transport Systems Engineer include methods and models for the simulation of mobility demand, transport supply, and demand–supply interaction, aimed at defining the optimal system from technological, functional, economic, and environmental perspectives. In particular:
Methodologies for the design of transport systems, including the sizing and performance definition of their components;
Development of models for passenger and freight mobility, transport supply on multimodal networks, and demand–supply interaction;
Evaluation of interventions from technical, economic, and environmental perspectives;
Methods and models for the control, operation, and maintenance of transport systems.
The Transport Systems Engineer is also skilled in the techno-economic design of transport systems, including the development of transport and mobility plans at different scales, operational planning for transport companies, evaluation of infrastructure interventions, and the sizing and definition of functional components of transport systems.
