Course objectives

OBJECTIVES. The course gives the key competences of operations management, both from an organisational-management and a technical-operational point of view. The expected learning outcomes are the capabilities to analyse the relationship of market and supply chain, the role and processes of the company within the supply chain, and the applying knowledge and understanding of the methodologies for production and inventory management. EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES. Knowledge and understanding: knowledge and understanding of the most important processes and techniques for operations management, and supply chain management. Models and methods for materials management, for the production configuration, the calculation of economic production quantity, and the planning and programming techniques. Capability: capability to analyse with a systemic approach, model problems and identify the best techniques for solving the main challenges of supply chain management, production, and logistics, with a focus on production planning/programming and materials management.

Short exercise to be completed in the initial phase of the oral colloquium. This will be followed by an oral examination to assess comprehension of the theoretical aspects of the program, as well as correctness, precision, and the ability to delve into the resolution of the proposed exercises. The objective of the examination is to verify the level of achievement of the previously indicated learning objectives. The oral examination serves as an assessment of what has been learned, with a particular focus on the theoretical content of the course. To achieve a score of 30/30 with honors, the student must demonstrate an excellent knowledge of all topics covered during the course, being able to connect them logically and coherently, including practical examples and numerical cases
Lesson mode
The course includes theoretical lessons on all topics covered in the program, as well as in-class modeling exercises. Video projection sessions and gamification contests are conducted to assess the effectiveness of the teaching, whenever possible.
