Laboratory for Safety in industrial Plants

Course objectives

The particularly professionalising characteristics of the discipline "Safety of Industrial Plants" suggests, in addition to theoretical training, practical training through the preparation of an executive project consistent with the contents of the 6 CFU course program. Prerequisite for participation in the workshop "Safety of Industrial Plants" is therefore, passing the 6 CFU "Safety of Industrial Plants" course.

Course program
Industrial Accident Investigation and Prevention Laboratory The Laboratory offers a series of case studies related to industrial accidents, covered in the SMIS (Safety and Maintenance for Industrial Systems) course, providing the technical-legal elements necessary to identify the causes and responsibilities. Students are required to actively participate in the meetings (at least 80%), during which the investigative investigation will be stimulated through the formulation of written answers to questions of various types posed by the teacher. Some questions will materialize in the setting of group system analyses (RBD, FMECA, HazOp, FTA, ETA, etc.), carried out both in the classroom and remotely. The laboratory path is completed by some practical exercises on the use of measurement tools typically used in safety and maintenance engineering (thermal camera, multifunction instrument, earth meter, insulation meter, etc.). In addition to learning elements on the use of the tools, students will have to draft a critical interpretation report of the findings carried out. The laboratory is held partly in English (in particular the lessons of the SMIS course) and partly in Italian. Students who have not had the opportunity to participate in the meetings in person can agree on a specific laboratory activity with the professor.
