Apprenticeship
Internship Assignment and Graduation Application
The Training Internship
The Bachelor's degree program includes the completion of a training internship that replaces the assignment of a thesis: it is discussed as both the internship evaluation and the final exam during the graduation session.
The training internship:
- is mandatory for obtaining the Bachelor's degree, as it is required to earn the university credits (CFU) foreseen in the curriculum;
- has a duration of approximately three months (minimum 375 hours);
- can be requested starting from the second semester of the third year, after earning at least 126 CFU, including any unrecorded course units;
- must be completed before graduation—its completion is a requirement to participate in the graduation session;
- is carried out under the guidance of a Sapienza professor (Internal Supervisor) who oversees the process and the final internship report. The Internal Supervisor must sign the cover page of the internship report.
At the end of the internship, an internship report must be written.
The internship can be:
- Internal
- External
- Recognized (upon request for recognition of extra-university work activities)
Internal Internship:
Carried out with a professor or research group within the University. It is supervised by a Sapienza professor (Internal Supervisor) and includes a project agreed upon with the Supervisor.
External Internship:
Carried out at companies or institutions outside the University. It is conducted under the guidance of an external supervisor (External Supervisor) and supervised by a Sapienza professor (Internal Supervisor). The external internship requires a training project submitted through the TSP Sapienza – Internships and Training portal and approved by the internship committee, coordinated by Prof. Daniele Gorla (gorla@di.uniroma1.it).
Recognized Internship (for extra-university work activities):
Requires defining a project in agreement with Prof. Daniele Gorla, who evaluates whether the extra-university or otherwise coherent activity can be recognized. The internship report must still be written and graduation procedures completed. Contact Prof. Gorla directly for evaluation and, if approved, a tutor (Internal Supervisor) will be assigned.
Procedures and Deadlines
105 days before the graduation session
The internship must be assigned at least 105 days before the graduation session—this applies to all internship types (internal, external, or recognized).
The internship assignment forms can be downloaded via the links on the right side of the relevant web page and must be uploaded as a PDF using the following Google Form:
👉 https://goo.gl/forms/kzYh7zgvCvKHFnyA2
From the internship assignment to the submission of the report, at least 90 days (three months) must pass.
During this time, the Internship Report must be written under the supervision of the Internal Supervisor.
The remaining days are reserved for graduation application and other related deadlines.
30 days before graduation
Submit the graduation application in the INFOSTUD 2.0 system at least 30 days before the session date, according to the I3S faculty calendar for the academic year:

⚠️ The report must not be uploaded to INFOSTUD, but must be sent by replying to the email received from the educational office.
The report must be:
- Saved in PDF format
- Include a cover page signed by the student and the Internal Supervisor
Deadlines for sending the report to the educational office are listed on the Graduation webpage.
7–5 days before graduation
Book the internship evaluation exam via INFOSTUD after the graduation session has been published.
The educational office will publish the organization of the graduation session, including time and location, at least 5 days in advance.
Each student must book the internship exam in the INFOSTUD system like any other exam.
This exam consists of the presentation and discussion of the final report during the graduation session.
The session will be opened by the Course President.
Graduating students will be contacted by technician Paolo Fontana (fontana@di.uniroma1.it) for technical setup and rehearsals in the assigned classrooms.
On Graduation Day

Graduate
The final examination represents an important individual educational opportunity that completes the academic program. It consists of the writing, presentation, and discussion of a written report, independently prepared by the student, which provides a comprehensive and detailed account of the problem addressed during the internship and of all activities carried out to arrive at its solution.
The discussion takes place before the Final Examination Committee, which determines the final degree grade based on the student’s academic record, the evaluation of the internship, the written report, and the discussion.

Departmental Activities (CdS)
Each year, the Department of Computer Science organizes ITMeetings, structured meetings between companies in the IT sector and students and graduates from Computer Science degree programs.
These meetings are held twice a year, typically in December and June, close to graduation sessions. The ITMeetings bring to the Department companies that develop or extensively use IT solutions, operating at local, national, or international levels.
During the meetings, participating companies present their business and outline various collaboration opportunities such as job offers, internship placements for bachelor’s degree students, and thesis projects. Each event includes a roundtable discussion on current topics in computer science, where companies share experiences and projects, encouraging discussions on educational and professional subjects with both students and faculty.
The event also features speed-dating sessions, short one-on-one interviews between company representatives and registered participants. These provide an important opportunity for direct contact, allowing companies to meet potential candidates and collect their CVs. On average, each edition hosts around fifty individual meetings.
