Statistical Sciences

The final assessment involves the preparation and defence of a thesis on a topic agreed with a supervisor within the scope of the degree programme’s disciplines. The thesis may also take the form of a report on a project or work placement carried out at a company or research institute, under the supervision of a member of the academic staff. The dissertation consists of a written paper, demonstrating originality, through which the student demonstrates sufficient maturity and autonomy in the use of the concepts and tools acquired during the degree course, and has acquired the ability to engage with relevant national and international literature.

- the graduation sessions and deadlines.
PLEASE NOTE: the graduation application must be submitted within the period specified in the guide, and it is possible to do so even before you have completed your exams. However, by the application deadline, all exams required by the study programme must have been passed and recorded in your academic transcript.

CALCULATION OF THE FINAL SCORE
The Committee for the final exam expresses its vote on a scale of one hundred and ten (110), with the following voting assignment criteria:

a) Enrolled in the study program starting from the academic year 2023-24:
●The grade point average (GPA) is calculated with weights proportional to the number of credits of the individual exams taken (weighted average)
●All exams taken during the study program or validated through transfers from other Master's degree programs are considered in the calculation of the GPA
●The Committee applies an additional 1-point increment for students who have completed their studies within the standard time.
●An additional 1-point increment is given for students who have achieved at least 3 honors during their studies or who have studied abroad for at least 3 months
●The final thesis is evaluated with a score increment ranging from 0 to 7, divided into the following merit categories: 1-2 (sufficient), 3-4 (good), 5-6 (excellent), 7 (outstanding)
●The Committee may award "laude" for a candidate with an initial score of at least 104/110, who achieves a score of 110/110 by discussing a thesis considered at least excellent

b) Enrolled in the study program up to the academic year 2022-23:
●The GPA is calculated with weights proportional to the number of credits of the individual exams taken (weighted average).
●All exams taken during the study program or validated through transfers from other Master's degree programs are considered in the calculation of the GPA
●Any honors received in exam results do not contribute to determining the GPA
●The final thesis is evaluated with a score increment ranging from 0 to 11, divided into the following merit categories: 0-2 (sufficient), 3-6 (good), 7-9 (excellent), 10-11 (exceptional)
●The Committee may propose the "laude" for a candidate who achieves the maximum grade (110/110)

Il Career Service di Sapienza supporta le studentesse, gli studenti, le laureate e i laureati nella delicata fase di transizione dal percorso universitario al mondo del lavoro, fornendo diversi servizi tra i quali:
- assistenza e informazione sui servizi erogati;
- consulenze individuali di orientamento al lavoro;
- revisione del CV;
- catalogo formativo per l'orientamento al lavoro e lo sviluppo dell'employability;
- stipula accordi di partnership con le imprese per la realizzazione di iniziative di placement e orientamento al lavoro;
- selezioni riservate;
- organizzazione di eventi di recruiting e orientamento;
- organizzazione di Career Day.

L'accompagnamento al lavoro si concretizza con specifiche attività organizzate dal Career Service e/o da Facoltà e altre strutture di Ateneo o in collaborazione con aziende, enti esterni pubblici o privati ed associazioni di categoria.
Le attività di orientamento al lavoro possono consistere in seminari, workshop ed eventi tematici sull'orientamento al lavoro, sulle competenze trasversali e su career management skills (ad es. soft skills, redazione del cv, strategie per la ricerca attiva di lavoro, video curriculum, social network, Employability Lab ecc.)
Per favorire l'incontro con le aziende e gli enti, vengono organizzati Recruiting day, Career Day, Testimonial day, Presentazioni aziendali, visite aziendali, Assessment, Business Game, programmi di mentoring o altre iniziative inerenti al placement, comprensive di quelle con gli Alumni e le mentorship aziendali. Tali eventi possono essere realizzati sia online che in presenza e sono finalizzati alla ricerca dei profili più idonei per le opportunità professionali offerte dalle imprese.
Sono a disposizione di studentesse e studenti, laureate e laureati anche seminari, workshop ed eventi tematici dedicati al placement (ad es. innovazione, start-up, incubazione di impresa, focus sulle professioni, Innovation Camp, ecc.).

Studentesse e studenti, laureate e laureati hanno a disposizione la piattaforma informatica JobTeaser Sapienza per:
• creare e personalizzare il proprio CV;
• candidarsi alle opportunità di lavoro in linea con il proprio profilo curriculare;
• consultare l'elenco delle aziende e delle associazioni registrate in piattaforma per contattarli autonomamente;
• prenotarsi agli eventi di recruiting, alle presentazioni aziendali e ai Career Day in programma.

Ogni anno il Career Service organizza il Career Day di Ateneo, dedicato a studentesse e studenti, laureate e laureati di tutte le undici Facoltà della Sapienza, nonché diversi Career Day di Area tematica o di Facoltà quali ad esempio: Career Day Scienze Umane e Sociali; Career Day Scienze Economiche e Giuridiche; Career Day STEM.

***Attività del CdS***
Presso il Dipartimento di Scienze Statistiche è stata formata una Commissione di Placement che fornisce ausilio agli studenti dei CdS magistrali mettendoli direttamente in contatto con enti e aziende che richiedono specifiche figure professionali. L'obiettivo è creare un sistema che faciliti la divulgazione, sulla base di una struttura di fruizione semplice ed immediata, delle offerte che pervengono al Presidente ed ai membri del consiglio di CdS in modo non strutturato, ma costante. Per favorire l'incontro con le aziende e gli enti, vengono organizzati presso gli spazi del Dipartimento di Scienze Statistiche, con cadenza fissata, eventi di presentazione di Aziende ed Enti, seminari, presentazioni di casi studio così come descritto alla pagina di riferimento (https://www.dss.uniroma1.it/it/placement). Gli incontri, oltre ad una descrizione della missione delle aziende/enti che intervengono e dei profili professionali di interesse, prevedono momenti di incontro individuale tra aziende/enti partecipanti e studenti che, in questo modo, possono chiedere e ricevere informazioni più dettagliate. Gli eventi passati hanno visto la partecipazione di numerose aziende ed enti, pubblici e privati, e hanno destato un notevole interesse da parte degli studenti e degli ex-alunni che hanno partecipato in numero significativo agli eventi.
