Course program
The course has a dual purpose and a twofold structure. On the one hand, it aims to introduce and reconstruct the history of Christianity, from the historical Jesus and his Jewish roots, through the formation of the New Testament. On the other hand, in a more focused, monographic approach, it will investigate the emergence of the complex Christian notion of the “image,” highlighting the conceptual and historical-critical stages that were crucial for the development of a full-fledged “theology of the image,” capable of influencing the evolution of Western aesthetics.
