At the end of the course the student must be able to illustrate the origin and evolution of the Italian language and the main phenomena of historical grammar, the main phases of Italian language history, the contemporary Italian language and its variability, in particular the “diatopia” (Italian language / dialect / Italiano regionale).

The student will be able to move freely and independently between problems and topics related to Italian linguistic and sociolinguistics.
Communication skills
The student must know how to communicate the concepts of the discipline with clarity, propriety of language and using the technical terminology of the discipline.
