ARCHAEOZOOLOGY
Course objectives
Consistent with the educational objectives of the Degree Program in which it is inserted, the course does proposes to provide, in the context of ARCHEZOOLOGY, knowledge and skills of understandings that complement and / or reinforce those acquired in the first cycle of studies, and of to enable the student to tackle original themes also in a research context, formulating judgments in a more complex and articulated form, communicating knowledge and i processes that led to their acquisition, and studying the topics in such a way autonomous. The purpose of the theoretical-practical course is to provide skills not only for the anatomical and species determination but also for the interpretation of the data from the point of view of the exploitation of the faunal resource providing an adequate spectrum of knowledge in the context of the study and reconstruction of the human-animal relationship in past. Case studies will be presented, which take into consideration different survey methods, relating to contexts of different chronological periods in Italy to the area Mediterranean, from the Near East to Central Asia. Finally, the creation and the populating a computer database for the management and basic statistical analysis of the fauna data useful for the production of a scientific contribution with adequate graphic apparatus for the communication of fauna data.
