Course regulations

Degree Programme (CdS) in Cultural Heritage in the Near and Middle East, and in Africa
Class: LM-2

a) The Degree Programme consists of a single curriculum.

b) The courses that make up the study programme, including the relevant academic disciplinary sectors and any division into modules, are published in the “planned teaching” section (didattica programmata).

c) The courses, credits, and assigned lecturers are published in the “delivered teaching” section (didattica erogata). The Degree Programme does not establish prerequisite requirements.

d) The elective activities available to students and the corresponding number of credits are published in the “planned teaching” section.

e) Procedures for transfers and/or changes from other degree programmes are governed by the current Academic Year University Regulations for Students.

f) Teaching is delivered in conventional format. However, with regard to teaching materials—particularly for students with visual or hearing disabilities—supplementary teaching tools are provided (PowerPoint presentations, e-learning materials, subtitles, audio recordings, dedicated syllabi, supporting outlines and diagrams) in order to facilitate not only attendance but also exam preparation. Assessment methods consist of oral examinations; however, in order to support students, intermediate tests may also be offered.

g) The Degree Programme appoints one or more lecturers responsible for assessing other educational activities. The corresponding credits are indicated in the “planned teaching” section.

h) The Degree Programme appoints one or more lecturers responsible for assessing the outcomes of internships, traineeships, and study periods abroad. The corresponding credits are indicated in the “planned teaching” section.

i) Additional provisions concerning students’ obligations are set out in the Charter of Students’ Rights and Duties, available at:
https://www.uniroma1.it/it/documento/carta-dei-diritti-e-dei-doveri-dell
...

j) Attendance follows conventional formats; however, for students with visual or hearing disabilities, supplementary teaching tools are provided to facilitate attendance. The Degree Programme also provides attendance arrangements for part-time students (approximately 30 ECTS per year), as the timetable and course programmes indicated in the official study plan are substantially maintained in the following academic year.

k) The Degree Programme provides for the recognition—subject to verification—of credits earned in other Degree Programmes at Sapienza or at other universities, in accordance with the current Academic Year University Regulations for Students.

l) Academic tutoring is designed to guide and assist students throughout their course of study, to involve them actively in the educational process, and to remove obstacles to effective attendance, including through initiatives tailored to individual needs, aptitudes, and requirements. Tutoring services cooperate with bodies supporting the right to education and with student representatives, contributing to students’ overall cultural development and to their full participation in university activities (Law 341/1990, art. 13).

m) The Degree Programme declares that courses corresponding to at least 60 ECTS credits are taught by professors or researchers belonging to the relevant academic disciplinary sectors and holding positions at the University, or at other universities on the basis of specific inter-university agreements. No tenured professor or researcher has been counted more than twice overall for courses taught either at Sapienza or at other universities. For the list of reference lecturers, please consult the “delivered teaching” section.

n) In addition to the requirements specified in the official regulations for admission to the Master’s Degree Programme in Cultural Heritage in the Near and Middle East, and in Africa, the Degree Programme requires verification of the adequacy of the applicant’s academic preparation through an interview with the President of the Degree Programme and/or one or more lecturers of the Programme.
