Presentation
The Master’s Degree Programme in English, Cultural Heritage in the Near and Middle East, and in Africa, offers a unique educational path within both the Italian and international academic landscape.
It focuses on disciplines related to the study of the ancient Eastern world, with particular emphasis on its rich cultural heritage in the fields of archaeology, epigraphy, art history, philology and literature, socio-anthropology, and the history of religions.
The programme aims to train professionals in the study, protection, enhancement, and communication of international cultural heritage—both tangible and intangible—such as archaeologists, museum curators, and heritage specialists.
Graduates will be prepared to take on managerial, planning, and coordination roles in various sectors where specialized expertise in cultural heritage is essential. These may include scientific projects led by international institutions, publishing initiatives related to the programme’s focus areas, and the design of museums and exhibitions, as well as activities promoted by national and international organizations.
They will also be qualified to contribute to the organization of permanent or temporary exhibitions and to initiatives aimed at the promotion, public engagement, and accessibility of cultural heritage—including efforts to safeguard the endangered heritage.
The educational programme is specifically strengthened through laboratories, seminars, workshops and specialized internships aimed at developing practical skills in field surveying, excavation, conservation-oriented restoration, study and preservation of material culture and archaeological remains, analysis of sources in the historical languages of the macro-region, and the planning and drafting of museum and territorial enhancement projects.
