Course objectives

The course aims to deepen a complex issue of great importance in contemporary history through the direct reading of sources and specialized bibliography, in order to put the student in a position to address original topics even in a research context, to formulate judgments in more complex and articulate, communicate the knowledge and the processes that led to their acquisition, and study the topics in an autonomous way.

Course program
The course addresses the history of communism from a global perspective, from its origins in the catastrophe of World War I, through the clash with Nazi-fascism, the Cold War, the collapse of the USSR and the emergence of China as a global superpower.
Prerequisites
General knowledge of Contemporary History from the 19th and 20th centuries is a prerequisite.
