LATIN LITERATURE
Course objectives
In consistency with the educational purposes of the whole teaching course, aim of the teaching unit is to give students knowledge and comprehension skills in the field of Latin Literature, that complete and/or reinforce those acquired in the first grade of studies. Moreover, it will make the students able to approach orginal themes in a research context, making more complex judgments, communicating knowledge and its process, and studying the subject in an independent and self-educational way. In particular, students are required to acquire: a deep knowledge of Latin language; a deep knowledge of Latin literature from III B.C. to VI A.D.; a good notion of the persistence of Latin language and civilization in Italian and European culture from the Middle Ages onwards; advanced skills in the research techniques required for the critical exam of Latin texts; mastery of the specific research tools available in traditional or computerized and telematic form in the specific area of Latin texts.
