SCANDINAVIAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURES - MASTER LEVEL I

Course objectives

A) Knowledge and understanding Students will know the scientific literature on different topics within Scandinavian culture and linguistics and they will be able to comment on it critically and to compare different interpretative hypothesis; B) Applying knowledge and understanding Students will be able to apply the acquired tools and concepts to the liguistic, stylistic and thematic analysis of selected texts; C) Making judgements Students will be able to integrate their previous knowlegde with the new critical strategies they will acquire, evaluating the suitability of different analytical tools; they will be able to choose the best analytical path in order to reach different research goals (e.g., for stylistic, linguistic, translation analysis…); D) Communication skills Students will be able to comunicate and discuss their new knowledge and the findings of their interpetrative work at a specialist level, using an adequate terminology and argumentative strategy; E) Learning skills Students will be able to delve deeper into issues presented during the course, choosing autonomously the best analytical tools to apply, and they will be encouraged to follow personal research paths;

The course aims at reaching an A2 level in the language at issue, through the reading of various texts, the teaching of grammar, and the practice of conversation.
