Course program
The course - structured in a strongly seminary perspective - aims to analyze the reforming tensions within the Christian phenomenon from Paul to Luther, with particular reference to the "eruptions" of radical Paulinism in Marcion, Augustine, and in the Middle Ages dualistic movements. The lessons, moving from the direct reading of the most relevant primary sources, will therefore focus on the critical nature of the Christian event, declined in a long-term perspective, and on the latent secularizing tendency of similar tensions. Particular attention will be paid to the need for a solid historiographical method in interacting with sources that are so heterogeneous in their chronological, geographical, and cultural coordinates.
