Course objectives

The course aims to provide knowledge and understanding of the methodological, critical and applicable aspects of the Discipline; it proposes geographical areas and sectorial perspectives in which related projects are activated; it shows the variability of fields of interest; it enables the student to master the specific topics in order to use them and apply them in other fields of study while using the correct specific language. With the acquired knowledge the student will be able to develop autonomous ability of connections with other disciplines in the various historical epochs and cultural contexts.

Course program
The course aims to offer knowledge of the history of European integration as a product of the 20th and 21st centuries, from the original context of the Cold War to the subsequent evolutions of the new International order/disorder. The interactions between the stages of the European integration process and International dynamics will be pointed out, considering particularly the role of the United States within the framework of Euro-Atlantic relations.
Prerequisites
The knowledge of the key events that mark the history of the 20th century is required.

Exam mode
The candidate must show knowledge of the main issues discussed during the lessons and analyzed in the assigned books. He/She must also be able to critically argue and reflect on the great questions of the political, social, and cultural history of the Twentieth century. The final test score ranges from 18 to 30 and honors. If less than 18 it will be considered insufficient.
Lesson mode
The course will be mainly carried out with lectures. During the lessons, the students will be continuously stimulated in order to debate on the presented issues and understand the historical method. Slides will also be used in each lesson for permitting full comprehension of the proposed topics.
