MEDIEVAL ARCHITECTURE

Course objectives

The Course aims to offer students advanced tools for the analysis of medieval architecture in Italy and in Europe (from the 7th to the 14th century), through a theme-based and chronological cut that enables students to know and to understand the material so as to develop personal abilities and skills of reading, interpretation, connection between monuments and historical-artistic events.

Course program
Norman architecture: from the English Channel to southern Italy during the "Età della Contea" (1030-1130).
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of medieval architecture history.
Frequency
Obligatory.
Exam mode
Oral exam. The assessment will take into account the learning skills acquired in class, on site inspections and during the study phase, as well as the communication skills and making judgements.
Lesson mode
The course consists of lectures and visits to museums and monuments.
