Course program
Pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment of the patient with essential arterial hypertension, based on international guidelines; selection criteria for drug therapy of hypertension; main side effects of antihypertensive drugs, contraindications and drug interactions. Prescription and monitoring of drug therapy in atrial fibrillation (FA). Prescription and monitoring of drug therapy in patients with high cardiovascular risk. Prescription and monitoring of anticoagulant and / or antiplatelet therapy in the various cardiovascular diseases. Pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Diagnostic and therapeutic framework of the patient with NAFLD / NASH. Diagnostic and therapeutic framework of the patient with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). Setting up pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment and clinical follow-up of the patient with ischemic heart disease. Setting the diagnostic and therapeutic path for dyslipidaemias. Practical clinical training Attendance in medicine and surgery departments is foreseen under the guidance of a tutor to acquire the ability to frame, clinical and decision-making skills relating to the diagnostic procedure, therapeutic management and clinical follow-up of the patient.

1. Atrial fibrillation as an example of complex cardiovascular pathology in the elderly 2. Heart failure: diagnosis and treatment 3. Deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism: diagnosis and treatment 4. Appropriate use of antiplatelet and anticoagulant drugs 5. Knowing how to address the complexity of patients in the ward affected by multiple comorbidities
Prerequisites
The prerequisites for the course include knowledge of the pathophysiology of the most common internal medicine conditions (hypertension, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, atherosclerosis, ischemic heart disease, heart failure, infectious diseases commonly encountered in internal medicine departments such as pneumonia and urinary tract infections, autoimmune diseases, deep vein thrombosis, and pulmonary embolism), basics of general pharmacology, familiarity with drugs used in internal medicine conditions, and understanding of pathological anatomy.

The general assessment of the exam consists of knowledge of the topics covered in class.
