THREE-DIMENSIONAL MODELING

Course objectives

The aim is to provide students with a thorough knowledge on the role of the immune system main components both in the physiological response and in the immunopathogenic mechanisms. At the end of the course the student will have to: • know the basics of the functioning of the immune system, including molecular mechanisms • know how to illustrate the pathogenetic mechanisms of the main autoimmune diseases • know the general principles that regulate the immune response in transplants • know how to identify congenital and acquired immunodeficiencies, as a consequence of the reduced or failed functioning of the immune system • be able to describe the role of the immune system on the development of tumors • know the main laboratory techniques in immunological and serological diagnostics, in transplants and in the immune response against cancer
