THREE-DIMENSIONAL MODELING

Course objectives

The course takes place at the end of a training course started in the second semester of the second year. The aim is to teach: KNOWLEDGE of terminology, symptoms, objective signs, laboratory investigations and instrumental investigations of the different systems ABILITY to conduct a correct systematic medical history and to write it in a terminologically appropriate way; to conduct the general physical examination in the normal subject correctly and to dictate it in a terminologically appropriate manner SKILLS of pathophysiological reasoning, understood as the ability to know how to interpret signs and symptoms and to identify the problem from which to start the diagnostic procedure

Course program
Review of the main elements of Statistical Inference. Introduction. EBM. Causality. Classification of clinical studies. Case-Control Study. Cohort study. Incidence and time-to-event. Censoring. Cohort studies: incidence rates Cohort studies: survival and competing risks analysis Clinical Trials: classification by phase and design. Equivalence and non-inferiority tests. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses (intro).
Prerequisites
To understand the content of the course it is important to know basic elements of descriptive and inferential statistics (in particular, hypothesis testing)

Frequency
Attendance is both mandatory and highly recommended.
Exam mode
The assessment consists of a written test with multiple choice questions (with 1 and only 1 correct option). The number of questions is approximately 10.
Lesson mode
The lessons alternate explanations and exercises or illustrations useful for understanding the topic. An active participation is recommended.
