Course program
General concepts and context (10 hours) and specific study (14 hours) of the following diseases: • Calculi and tumors of the major salivary glands (parotid and submandibular) • Thyroid diseases of surgical interest • Diseases of parathyroids of surgical interest • Open and closed chest trauma • Lung cancer • Mediastinal diseases • Dyskinesia of the esophagus • Esophageal diverticula • Malignant neoplasms of the esophagus • Diaphragmatic hernias and esophageal hiatus • Peptic ulcer • Gastric cancer
Prerequisites
In order to understand the teaching content and to achieve the learning objectives, at the beginning of the didactic activities foreseen by the didactic module the student must possess the knowledge on the anatomy and physiology of the main organs and systems.
Books
For the examination, we suggest a theoretical deepening already from the beginning of the course attendance. Frequency
Following paragraph 4.5 of the Regulations of the Dental School, the student is required to attend educational activities, formal, non-formal, vocational. The frequency is checked by the teachers through signature / updated lists provided by the Academic Office, as established by CCLMOPD. The certificate of mandatory attendance to the teaching course is required to the student to be admitted at the final test.
Exam mode
To pass the exam the student must achieve a grade of not less than 18/30 in each module. The student must demonstrate that he has acquired sufficient knowledge of the topics covered in the program, a basic knowledge about the anatomy and physiology inherent in the treated organs and apparatus and be able to fully and consistently show the topics of the final exam. To achieve a score of 30/30 cum laude, the student must demonstrate that he has acquired excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course, being able to link them in a logical and consistent way. The final exam will take place at the end of the course, with an overall evaluation, and includes a final oral examination of General Surgery and one of Anesthesiology, which concur in the same way in the determination of the final grade. For the purposes of the evaluation, the frequency, active participation and autonomous reasoning and study capacity will be examined.
Lesson mode
The teacher provides frontal teaching with traditional methods, with audiovisual aids and with the scheduling of lessons as reported on the GOMP System Classrooms/Timetables and published on the web site of the CdS.
