Course program
In the lectures, also making constant reference to the classics of education, the main issues related to general pedagogy (about the educational sciences) will be addressed, with particular regard to the nature, structure and pragmatic logic of pedagogical knowledge, terminology, key concepts, theories and models of reference. Through the teaching of General Pedagogy, it will also be possible to learn how this discipline has evolved, its current fields of study, interest and intervention. With this in mind, also taking into account the specific educational objectives of the Bachelor of Science in Education of Education degree program, the course also aims to investigate the multiple places and different ages of life and education (with particular reference to educational contexts involving young children, their families and educational figures) and to have students acquire basic knowledge about the academic relationship and critical-emancipatory pedagogy. Part of the teaching includes the implementation of a laboratory dedicated to the 0-3 age group. Completing activities related to the laboratory is mandatory for taking the exam. Students who cannot attend the laboratory must contact the teacher to define the work to be done individually. The course is ideally divided into three parts. The first part (9 lectures - 23 hours) will examine the nature, structure and pragmatic logic of pedagogical knowledge, terminology, key concepts, theories and models. The second part (7 lectures - 17 hours) will deal with the educational relationship and critical-emancipatory pedagogy. Finally, the third part of the teaching involves the activation of a workshop dedicated to the 0-3 age group (no. 5 lessons, 12 hours). The workshop aims to explore the central themes of general pedagogy within the context of the integrated 0-6 system, including through reflection and shared discussion of ministerial documents and guidelines. Students, divided into small groups, must produce and submit written and multimedia papers upon completing the laboratory work. The completion of lab-related activities is mandatory for taking the exam. Students who cannot attend the laboratory must contact the teacher to define the work to be done individually.

Exam mode
The examination will be in written mode, focus on the topics covered in class and found in the study texts, and be differentiated according to attendance. For attending students: the examination will consist of three questions with closed stimulus and open response (each worth eight points - 8/30). For non-attending students, the examination test will consist of four questions with closed stimulus and open response (each worth six points - 6/30). For attending students, active participation in the lectures and the quality of the activities carried out during the course (including using the Moodle platform) will also be considered in the final assessment. The laboratory activity and the produced paper will be worth one-fifth (up to 6/30) of the overall evaluation. The quality of the student's participation in group work and the quality of the paper produced by the student, either in a small group or - exceptionally - individually, will be considered in the evaluation. The final grade will, therefore, be the sum of the score obtained on the written test (up to 24/30) and the laboratory activity (up to 6/30). A grade of under 18/30 will be required to pass the exam. The examination will last two hours. In the evaluation of the test, the following general indices of judgment will be taken into account overall: mastery and conceptual organisation of the thematic content; thematic breadth and organicity of the discussion; specialised lexical correctness; level of thoroughness and ability to make theoretical connections; ability to critically rework knowledge. The choice of the written test is related to the expected learning outcomes, especially regarding the ability to make theoretical connections (including in interdisciplinary terms) and critically rework knowledge. There are no intermediate tests.
Lesson mode
Consistent with the educational objectives of the General Pedagogy teaching, there will be face-to-face lectures, seminar-type meetings (including with scholars in the field), individual and group in-depth study itineraries, and presentation of materials by students. The meetings (12 hours, one cfu) falling within the scope of the Workshop dedicated to the 0-3 age group will be held in a laboratory mode, also using the Moodle platform, with the page set up. The students, divided into small groups, at the end of the laboratory work, will have to produce and present work concerning spaces in early childhood education (evolution, function, structuring, innovation). Completion of the lab-related activities is mandatory for taking the exam. Students who cannot attend the lab should contact the lecturer to define the work to be done individually.
