Quality Assurance (QA)
Organization and responsibilities of the AQ of the CdS
Organization and responsibilities of the AQ of the CdS - further information
Sapienza’s Quality Assurance (QA) System is extensively described on the webpages of the Quality Team, available at:
https://www.uniroma1.it/it/pagina/team-qualita
These webpages outline the ten-year development process through which the University has built its QA system, the organizational model adopted, the key QA actors (Quality Team, Monitoring Committees, Joint Faculty-Student Committees, Degree Programme Quality Committees), the active Working Groups, the main activities carried out, and the documentation prepared for managing QA processes and activities in Teaching, Research, and Third Mission initiatives.
The webpages also serve as a communication platform and provide access to reference data for Review activities, for drafting the reports of the Joint Faculty-Student Committees and the Monitoring Committees, and for completing the SUA-Teaching and SUA-Research forms.
Each Degree Programme and each Department may adapt the Sapienza QA Model described on the Quality Team webpages to its own specific organizational context, while complying with the models and procedures defined by ANVUR and the Quality Team.
The Degree Programme and Department webpages, together with the SUA-Teaching and SUA-Research forms, constitute the main communication tools for describing the implementation of the QA System at Degree Programme/Department level.
The President of the Academic Area Council (CAD), Prof. Lina Pezzuti, together with the Vice-President of the CAD, Prof. Silvia Cataldi, coordinate the analysis of the programme’s status and the implementation of corrective actions.
The members of the QA Committee—Professors Claudio Barbaranelli, Luigi De Gennaro, Silvia Cataldi, Enrico Di Pace, Maria Grazia Gerbino, Ankica Kosic, Mimma Tafà, and Paolo Maria Russo—collect data and reports for the analysis, which is carried out by the full committee whenever required (e.g., preparation of the Annual Monitoring Form; drafting of the Cyclical Review Report, etc.).
Student representatives are: Giulia Demasi, Maria Rebeca Bulfeci Neacsu, Thomas Pitrelli, and Alessandro Andrea Caré.
Proposals for corrective actions are developed by the President, after considering the observations of the student representative. The contact persons for the Degree Programme in Psychological Sciences and Techniques (STP) are Veronica Moscardini and Mariapia Maffettone.
The feasibility of the proposed actions is verified by the Academic Manager (Dr. Enrico Tizzano).
In particular, a dedicated subcommittee within the CAD QA Committee has been established specifically for the Bachelor’s Degree in Psychological Sciences and Techniques, composed of the Programme Academic Coordinator Silvia Cataldi and another faculty member of the Degree Programme.
Through its QA management group, the Degree Programme holds periodic meetings to monitor the corrective actions identified in the previous Review Report; assess the outcomes of their implementation, highlighting strengths, possible critical issues, and necessary changes; verify the adequacy and effectiveness of programme management; and propose, where necessary, further corrective actions to be included in the subsequent Review Report.
For a more detailed and specific reference to the planned actions, the progress status of corrective measures, and their expected timeline, please refer to the Improvement Objectives outlined in the 2023 Cyclical Review Report.
In addition, faculty and tutors systematically carry out data collection activities to analyse impact and actively engage students. In particular, targeted analyses of interactive teaching activities and the gathering of student feedback are conducted through qualitative and quantitative systems, including:
anonymous semi-structured questionnaires administered at the end of each course and at the beginning and end of the degree programme;
collegial discussions and in-person brainstorming sessions on the trimester just completed and the one about to begin;
ongoing monitoring and mapping of reports received from content tutors.
This comprehensive data collection system aims to strengthen students’ sense of identity, assess perceptions of learning, and encourage the emergence of critical issues and suggestions for improvement, ensuring continuous attention to student feedback, which is carefully evaluated and considered during programme redesign.
In line with the programme’s psycho-educational approach, the course coordinators promote periodic planning and re-design meetings with faculty members, offering their expertise in online teaching methodologies to ensure high-quality educational provision and appropriate support for lecturers facing the challenges of asynchronous distance teaching.
Steering Committee
In the psychology area, the Steering Committee (https://medpsi.web.uniroma1.it/it/comitato-di-indirizzo), composed of a joint table including the Presidents of the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs and various stakeholders, serves as the main body for identifying graduate learning outcomes and advising on potential changes to the Degree Course.
The Degree Course actively participates in the activities of the Steering Committee and uses its findings as an informational basis for decisions regarding the design and updating of the curriculum. This body allows for structured and continuous consultation with stakeholders, in line with the needs of graduating students and the strategic priorities of the University. Stakeholders include the National Order of Psychologists (CNOP), the Order of Psychologists of Lazio, the National Welfare and Assistance Body for Psychologists (ENPAP), the Academic Psychology Conference (CPA), the Regional School Office of Lazio, Local Health Authorities (ASL), the Department for Education, Training and Work of Rome Capital, as well as non-profit organizations and companies.
Teaching Observatory
The Teaching Observatory performs an operational function of “on-the-field” monitoring of teaching quality, in coordination with the Joint Commission of Faculty and Students (CPDS).
In particular, the Observatory:
Collects direct information on critical issues, strengths, and student perceptions in individual Degree Programs;
Completes monitoring questionnaires prepared by the CPDS, providing qualitative data useful for the Annual Report;
May conduct interviews with student representatives to explore recurring issues;
Contributes to verifying the implementation of improvement actions adopted by the degree programs;
Participates in training and coordination sessions organized by the CPDS to standardize methods and procedures.
In summary, the Teaching Observatory is a support tool for the CPDS, collecting and transmitting qualitative information from the Degree Programs, facilitating continuous monitoring and improvement of the quality of the educational offer.

Consultation with representative organizations
Initial Consultations with Stakeholders
The Bachelor’s Degree in Psychological Sciences and Techniques was designed in line with the quality recommendations of CPA and CNOP regarding three-year programmes in the L24 class, and in particular concerning distance-learning modalities within this degree class.
National Order of Psychologists (CNOP) – The President of the National Council of the Order of Psychologists, consulted on Friday, 13 January, while noting the objective difficulties in the current professional situation of psychologists, recognized the specific value of an educational offer that, both in terms of teaching modality and the specific positioning of the programme, maintains the necessary generality of three-year psychology training while also providing a specialized orientation.
On 12 January, a meeting was held with a representative of the University Committee of the Order of Psychologists of the Lazio Region. The representative welcomed the proposal for the establishment of the Bachelor’s Degree in Psychological Sciences and Techniques and included the discussion of the project in the agenda of the Council meeting scheduled for 23 January 2016, when an official opinion will be expressed.
A direct consultation with the Executive Board of the Conference of Academic Psychology (Conferenza della Psicologia Accademica) regarding the programme was also requested. This consultation was scheduled immediately after the elections for the renewal of the body, set for 20 January 2017.
Regional Education Office of Lazio – Office III: Right to Education, Training Policies and European Projects – From the direct consultation with the Head of this office, which took place on 14 January 2017, an interest in the project was expressed by school teachers, both for the specific distance-learning modality, which makes the course particularly suitable for working students, and for the innovative approach to psychological techniques related to learning and cognitive development, with particular reference to situations of cognitive disability. The office also considered it possible to collaborate on specific projects to host the necessary internship periods in schools.
On 30 January 2017, the final university-level consultation with Social Partners was held. During this meeting, the opinions of the consulted organizations were collected, as reported in the attached minutes. The University plans to hold meetings with Social Partners on an annual basis.
During the preparatory activities for the reorganization of qualifying psychology degree programmes, the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Psychology, together with the Directors of the three departments, organized a meeting with the Order of Psychologists of Lazio on 15 December 2022. The President and the Coordinator of the University Commission, as well as all degree programme coordinators, attended the meeting. The outcome was the Order’s recommendation that courses emphasize professional ethical training, the integration of theory and practice, and the creation of opportunities for students to combine internship experience with classroom learning.
Ultimately, the Order expressed a fully positive assessment of the educational offer of the L-24 Degree Programmes.

Consultation with representative organizations (subsequent consultations)
Consultations for Academic Year 2024-2025
The consultations for the 2024-2025 academic year are presented below. It should also be noted that additional consultations have been initiated to align the Degree Programme with the decree defining the new degree classes.
On Friday, 3 November 2023, an initial meeting was held with psychology students to discuss, together with stakeholders, the changes introduced by the qualifying degree for the practice of the psychology profession (Law no. 163/2021 and Ministerial Decree no. 654/2022). Participants included the Order of Psychologists of Lazio (President of the Order and Coordinator of the University and Training Commission) and several local National Health Service (SSN) entities: the Clinical Psychology Unit of Sant’Andrea Hospital, the Institute of Child Neuropsychiatry of the Policlinico, and a local ASL in Rome.
Overall, the organizations consulted (directly or indirectly) constitute adequately representative references at local/regional level (Order of Psychologists of Lazio, Presidents of Master’s Degree Programmes), national level (AlmaLaurea research), and international level (Dublin descriptors regarding learning outcomes achieved by students completing a degree programme).
The methods and timing of stakeholder consultations proved effective in collecting opinions and guidance from the professional world. Consultation with the above organizations, together with the consultation of the CUN, provided updated and useful information both on the expected functions and competencies of three-year graduates of the Degree Programme under review and on the identification of professional categories representing potential employment opportunities.
Since the activation of the Degree Programme, the University has planned annual meetings with Social Partners.
On 18 December 2024, a mixed-mode consultation was held with the Faculty Steering Committee, including: Vice-Dean, Placement Officer, Degree Programme Presidents, MDL Representatives, Faculty Academic Manager, President of Sviluppo Lavoro Italia, President of the Order of Psychologists of Lazio, Director of the Institute of Cognitive Science and Technologies (ISTC) of the CNR, General Director of AOU S., TIM/Telecom Italia, ASL Roma 1, Villa Maraini Onlus, Representative of the Lazio Regional Education Office, Assessor for School, Training and Work – Rome Capital, and President of the Order of Social Workers of Lazio. This consultation was convened to present the design of a new three-year psychology Degree Programme.
In particular, the President of the University and Training Commission – Order of Psychologists of Lazio emphasized that the establishment of the new Bachelor’s Degree in Psychological Sciences L-24 at the Rieti campus, together with the educational pathway it offers, is fully capable of addressing emerging sectoral needs. A particularly relevant and useful aspect is the inclusion of knowledge about the health service, which is also fundamental for enhancing collaboration between the public and private sectors.
The minutes of the 18 December 2024 consultation with stakeholders are available on the Faculty website at the following link:
