Course objectives

2.2 Obiettivi specifici 2.2.1 Conoscenza e capacità di comprensione (Knowledge and understanding). At the end of the course the student will have acquired the knowledge of the most important theoretical references about the organizational thinking and their use in the current welfare system; they will be able how to assess the level of integration of local services; they will be able to read critically the structural set-up aimed at protecting the rights and the active partecipation of people, according to an approach oriented to the empowerment of individuals, families, groups, organizations and comunity. 2.2.2 Capacità di applicare conoscenza e comprensione (Applying knowledge and under-standing). Through the analysis of organizational models oriented towards planning in services to individuals, the student will be able to examine the critical issues, potential and resources of the comunity, by identifying the correlations of these models with the institutional set-up of reference, the national and regional legisla-tive framework, the role of social service in the process of social change, to face complex organizational contexts and to use some tools dor assessing the quality of local services. 2.2.3 Autonomia di giudizio (Making judgements). The acquired competences, through the theoretical lessons and the individual and group classroom exer-cises, will sollicit in the individual the ability to collect data, systematize concepts and express evaluation, in an autonomus and critical manner, on organizational, social and ethical themes treated during the course. 2.2.4 Abilità comunicative (Communication skills). The readings (group papers on specific topics proposed by the teacher or suggested by the students, quo-tations, literary passages, etc.), the use of photo-metaphor and audiovisuals will develop the capacity for reflection, reflexivity and communication through mutual comparison on emotions aroused, the sharing of the object of study and the exchange of knowledge in relation to the levels of learning achieved from time to time. Meetings with experts, guided visits in operational contexts of social work and social and health will refine the attitudes towards confrontation and communication with unknown interlocutors. 2.2.5 Capacità di apprendimento (Learning skills). Discussions in the classroom on specific themes of social work, in-depth analysis and critical commentary on readings (proposed by students or suggested by the teacher), comparison of individual internship expe-riences, will stimulate the student in pursuing their academic and training path, both in areas of interest, both in the studies undertaken after the degree course.

Course program
The program is designed to provide the student with the tools to acquire reflective and critical reading skills of the complexity of the Welfare system, of the levels of integration of interventions and access to servi-ces, with particular reference to the most fragile sections of the population. Furthermore, the didactic con-tents promote the knowledge of the activities and professions connected to the social service, in order to facilitate interprofessional collaboration and team work. The following thematic areas will be investigated: 1) The organizational thinking and the system of services to individuals 2) The main legislative norms and their applicability in the territorial context 3) The methods of delivery of social and social-health services in the public sector (ASL, Municipality) and in the Third Sector 4) The process of building a Zone Plan 5) Social fragility and criticality, protection of rights, social protection systems and usability of services 6) Social networks and social and health integration 7) LEPS analysis 8) The evaluation of the quality of the interventions
Prerequisites
Ability to read the social context (useful), ability to develop communication and relationships to encourage the development of levels of collaboration in group work (important), knowledge of welfare policies at local, regional and national level (indispensable)

Exam mode
The test (oral) aims to assess the knowledge of the theories, the application of the methodologies to the most relevant contexts of the organization of services to individuals and to understand the main changes in the current Welfare system. Only a final oral test is scheduled. Oral test with open stimulus and open answer. (Final evaluation) The oral exam will focus on the basic texts and on a book chosen from those listed in the bibliography. A critical reading of "social phenomena" (with particular reference to changes in welfare) and the main topics covered during the course will be required, along with a "personalized" interpretation of the role of the Pro-fessional Social Service in the various operational contexts of the public sector and non-profit organiza-tions
Lesson mode
Frontal lessons, group exercises, meetings with experts, guided visits in operational contexts of social and social-health work, case studies, use of photos, audiovisuals and literary passages to develop connections between the emotional, cognitive and relational levels, thus facilitating way the strengthening of transversal skills. These active methodologies facilitate learning processes aimed at developing: application of the main theoretical knowledge and intervention methodologies to specific problem situations and/or social desease in the various areas of intervention; ability to deal with complex organizational processes; ability to deal with conceptual frameworks integrated with intervention methods; appropriate communication to interact with various professionals in the social service area and/or with other professionals; interview skills aimed at developing a relationship of trust; ability to conduct and/or manage group discussions; ability to deal with complex users; progressive autonomy of continuous updating.
