THREE-DIMENSIONAL MODELING

Course objectives

The course aims to provide students with the basic conceptual and practical skills as future professionals, specifically related to the need analysis, design, management and evaluation of organizational training interventions. A psychosocial approach and a learning organization framework will be adopted. Knowledge and understanding– At the end of the course, students will know main theories and models on the organizational training process, will be able to identify the role some organizational factors play in the training process (e.g., organizational culture) and to choose adequate techniques for training intervention management. Applying knowledge and understanding– The course includes interactive lessons, with examples, work on case study and exercises during the workshop lessons. Applying theory to practice will support the students’ ability, at the end of the course, to project a training intervention, adapting the acquired knowledge to specific organizational contexts and to possible critical issues (COURSE). Students will also develop the basic skills for the management of a training intervention (LAB).

Course program
The laboratory involves active participation in exercises related to different types of training methodologies (e.g., based on the type of learning objective, the level of cognitive and emotional involvement, and the level of interaction—individual, small group, or plenary). Following the experiential activities, each session will offer a space for reflection on the experience (e.g., ob-serving different training styles, practicing the management of exercises, reflecting on one's own experience both as a participant and as a trainer) and on its connection to training theory.
Prerequisites
The course requires knowledge of the main topics in work and organizational psychology, as well as the basic processes in social psychology.
Books
1– Quaglino G.P. Il processo di formazione (scritti di formazione 2). Milano: FrancoAngeli 2– Castagna M. Progettare la formazione. Guida metodologica per la progettazione del lavoro in aula. Milano: FrancoAngeli 3– papers indicated by the teachers at the beginning of the lessons. Further specifications on the handbook edition and the sections to be studied will be provided at the begin-ning of the lessons and on the Classroom course website.
Frequency
Frequency is strongly recommended, although not mandatory.
Exam mode
The exam consists of a written test (comprising three open-ended questions) aimed at assessing students' mastery of the main theoretical models covered in the course. An additional question, focused on designing a short training intervention based on a case study, will specifi-cally assess the skills developed during the laboratory component of the course.
Lesson mode
The laboratory involves group work, where students will engage in managing activities and exercises typical of training interventions. This will help them develop the ability to apply the studied theories, practice mana-ging training activities, build autonomy and time management skills, enhance teamwork and cooperation abilities, and improve public speaking skills.
