Functions
Based on the knowledge acquired during the program, graduates will be able to analyze complex environmental issues and assess anthropogenic impacts, performing support functions with multidisciplinary skills.
Graduates will be required to manage the complex relationship between development, environmental quality, and the sustainable use of resources, conducting sampling and measurements using scientific methods, in both public and private sectors, including research institutions and freelance professionals, both nationally and internationally.
Skills
The Environmental Sciences program aims to train professionals for the enhancement and protection of the environment and natural resources, including their various biotic and abiotic components.
Specifically, the skills students will acquire include:
- analyzing biotic and abiotic natural resources and assessing the quality of various environmental matrices, including in relation to anthropogenic impacts, through appropriate field sampling and laboratory analysis;
- process and interpret environmental data relating to the functioning of natural and anthropogenic ecological systems;
- participate in the design and management of environmental monitoring systems;
- contribute to environmental project and plan evaluation processes;
- coordinate environmental education projects.
The skills acquired during the program will enable graduates to actively participate in projects analyzing and managing natural and anthropogenic ecosystems.
Career Opportunities
Environmental Science graduates can find employment in a variety of fields, including:
- Public institutions responsible for environmental protection and research, environmental risk prevention,
natural resource planning and management, and the management, conservation, and dissemination of natural and cultural heritage (Ministries, research institutions, local authorities, protected areas, museums, botanical gardens, and herbaria);
- Non-governmental associations and private organizations engaged in environmental monitoring, communication, and
environmental information.
Environmental Science graduates, upon passing the specific state exam, can obtain a license
for the following regulated professions:
- Graduated agricultural technician;
- Junior biologist;
- Graduated agricultural expert;
- Junior planner.
In addition, Environmental Science graduates can continue their studies in related master's degrees.
